- Service Registration missing or corrupt – FIXED
-I was having the same problem as many others, Windows Update was sloooowww !
-I ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter, it said that the Service Registration was missing or corrupt, and not fixed.
-So I searched this site, and found some suggested solutions that I was afraid to try ( I am a real amateur ).
-On a whim, I removed update KB3138612, which supposedly “contains some improvements to Windows Update Client in Windows 7 SP1”.
-I then re-ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter, Service Registration was FIXED.
-Ran Windows Update, 2 minutes and done!
-KB3138612 was offered again as Important. - - - I did not install this !
-Perhaps I am on to something – anyone else care to try this?
